IVYPAC® Endorses Georgia State Senator Nikema Williams in her run for the United States House of Representatives in Georgia’s 5th Congressional District
The Georgia Democrat was nominated by the Georgia Democratic Party to replace the late Rep. John Lewis on the November ballot.
New York, NY, September 9, 2020 - IVYPAC®, a grassroots political action committee (PAC) formed to provide support to sorority members of the PAC’s founders, announced its endorsement of Georgia State Senator Nikema Williams, who is vying for the United States House of Representatives in Georgia’s 5th Congressional District.
Upon the passing of Congressman John Lewis, Williams was nominated by the Executive Committee of the Democratic Party of Georgia to replace Congressman Lewis on the November 2020 ballot.
In making the endorsement, the PAC noted Ms. Williams’ commitment to fighting for women's rights, healthcare, working families, voting rights, fair representation and public education.
The first Black woman Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, Ms. Williams seeks to continue her work on behalf of constituents on issues of economic security, voter suppression and racial injustice
In April 2018, a group of politically-savvy sorority sisters from New York, Ohio, California, Florida and Illinois banded together to form IVYPAC to help elect their sorority sisters to federal public office.
